UWCC ELECTS NEW BOARD CHAIRMAN, MEMBERS

United Way of Chester County is pleased to announce Roger Huggins has been elected to serve as Chairman of the Board. Roger comes to the position after 9 years of service on the Board and replaces outgoing chair Steve Shihadeh.

Roger explains “Having served on the United Way Board of Directors since 2001, I am honored to assume the role of Chairman and excited to help continue the impact made in our community by United Way of Chester County. United Way provides community support through an efficient, coordinated network of services that advances the common good in our community. I'm proud to Live United.”

Roger is a partner at Gawthrop Greenwood and concentrates his practice in several business-related fields, including commercial and real estate transactions, business organization, finance and contracts. A graduate of the Villanova University School of Law, Roger received his undergraduate degree in economics, with honors, from the University of Delaware. He was admitted to the Pennsylvania and Delaware Bars in 1980 and belongs to the Chester County, Pennsylvania, Delaware and American Bar Associations. Roger is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Chester County Economic Development Council.

The Board also welcomes three new directors to the 2010-2011 class. Commissioner Kathi Cozzone, Brian Parsons, and Joel Miranto join the existing board members in guiding the strategic vision of United Way.

Commissioner Kathi Cozzone was sworn in as Member of the Board of Chester County Commissioners in January, 2008, and serves as the Commissioners’ representative to, and is a member of, the Industrial Development Authority and a member of the Chester County Economic Development Council, ExOfficio. With more than twenty years’ experience, Commissioner Cozzone brings a seasoned accumulation of financial skills to the county management table. She has a particularly strong interest in helping young people and sits on the Advisory Board of the Child Advocacy Center of Chester County. Kathi holds a BS in Accounting from the College of New Jersey.

In his role as Vice President, Products Division at CTDI, Inc., Brian Parsons is responsible for engineering, sales, and operations within CTDI’s Products Division, stimulating significant growth and product expansion. Brian holds a BS Electrical Engineering Degree from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania). Brian is actively engaged in his local community including numerous volunteer activities with United Way’s Days of Caring, CTDI’s workplace campaign, and service on the Community Impact Council.

Joel Miranto has been with West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc., for the past ten years. During that time, he has served in both financial and marketing roles including Accounting Supervisor, Market Manager and his current position as Senior Business & Sales Analyst since 2005. His charity work includes previous services as Campaign Chair for West’s annual United Way campaign as well as the corporation’s philanthropic endeavor “West Without Borders”. Joel is a graduate of Evangel University in Springfield, MO, with a Bachelor of Business Management, and holds an MBA from Alvernia University.

The new board members officially begin their terms July 1, 2010. The 2010 – 2011 campaign year begins in Fall 2010.
